For this piece the choreographer wanted beams of light that emanated from the dancers' hands, that they could control at will. He was interested in the ways that brief moments of interaction can reveal us to each other in blinding flashes.

We could not find any kind of glove that accomplished this task, so I spent the time sewing LED chips into the palms of lifting gloves, and providing a switch on the thumb that the dancers could operate. In the end the switches became finicky, and we simply had the dancers go on with the lights already illuminated, using the battery power source as the “on switch”, and controlling output by closing our opening their hands.
