The choreographer shared his desire that the piece look like the folding and tumbling of a kaleidoscope. When my assistant and I watched the piece in rehearsal from a location above the dance floor we noticed that the piece also looked like a kaleidoscope from above, so we used an infrared camera to show the audience the piece from above as well as from the front, and the coloration of the light was designed to make the dancers glisten like the shards of glass in their familiar tumbling.
